Welcome aboard.

Day Three. I'm actually getting used to it up here.

But just a few days ago, I had convinced myself that I wasn't going to make it.

Becoming a flight attendant is sort of like joining the military or getting into a good college. It's a ton of hard work, paperwork, background checks, interviews, agility courses, lack of sleep, holding your breath, having your first choice not happen, trying again and finally getting an offer.

And then there's training.

Day One of pretty much any FA School is showing up, making a good impression (watch out for undercover observers, they are everywhere!), bringing every single piece of correct paperwork and then passing an entrance exam. Fail to do any of these things and you will be dismissed immediately, no questions asked.

...and training dismissals DO happen. They have happened to our group, already. It's sad, and a little brutal, but it makes you want the job even more. FA School is not exactly job training; it is an extended interview. Basically, you're not hired until you're actually hired.

Until then, I've got ten-hour classroom days, seven days a week, for a month. Yeah. But I've made it this far. Three days down, twenty-seven more to go.

Let's do this.

  1. Wow I didn't realize it was so hard to be a flight attendant. Well keep up the good work and I hope you get it.
